1. Who I am
This notice explains how I, James Glover, use personal information collected through the More Choices website, enquiry forms, information-call registration, and related follow-up communications. I act as the data controller for this information in my personal capacity as an independent Utility Warehouse Partner.
“More Choices” is the name used for this website and is not a separate legal entity.
Utility Warehouse Limited (“UW”) is a separate organisation. If you decide to progress to a UW application, registration, customer journey or other UW process, UW may receive information directly from you or from me where this is necessary to progress your request. UW will then handle that information under its own privacy notice and as a separate data controller.
2. What information I collect
I may collect:
- your name, email address and mobile number;
- information you submit in a form, including selected call times, messages, answers and information about your interest in the UW Partner opportunity;
- communication and follow-up records, such as emails, messages, call booking details and brief notes needed to manage your enquiry;
- basic technical and security information generated when you use the website, such as IP address, browser/device information and hosting or security logs; and
- your marketing preferences, if you separately choose to opt in to future promotional messages.
I do not ask you to provide special category information (for example health, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation) through these forms. Please do not include sensitive information unless it is genuinely necessary and I have asked for it through an appropriate route.
3. Why I use your information and my lawful basis
I use your information to:
- respond to your enquiry, contact you as requested and arrange an information call - legitimate interests;
- discuss the UW Partner opportunity and help you progress if you choose to continue - legitimate interests;
- operate, secure and troubleshoot the website and forms - legitimate interests;
- meet legal, regulatory, tax or record-keeping duties, or establish/defend legal claims where necessary - legal obligation and/or legitimate interests; and
- send optional ongoing promotional messages by email, SMS or WhatsApp after the original enquiry has ended - consent, where you have given a clear separate opt-in for the relevant communication method.
4. Who I share information with
I do not sell your personal information. I only share it where necessary for the purposes described above. This may include:
- Cloudflare, which hosts and protects the website and may process technical/security information;
- Google, where form submissions and working records may be stored in Google Sheets or related Google services;
- Resend, where it is used to deliver transactional or enquiry-related email notifications;
- Utility Warehouse Limited, only where you ask to progress or where sharing is necessary to complete the UW process you have chosen to enter; and
- professional advisers, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or other authorities where disclosure is genuinely necessary or required by law.
Service providers acting for me are used to provide hosting, storage, communications and security functions. They are not permitted to use your information for their own unrelated purposes merely because they process it for me.
5. International processing
Some technology providers used by this website operate internationally, so personal information may be processed outside the United Kingdom. Where a transfer is subject to UK data-protection transfer restrictions, the relevant provider arrangements must use an accepted safeguard, such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or approved contractual clauses / the UK Addendum, as applicable.
6. How long I keep your information
UK data-protection law does not set a single standard retention period. I use the following periods because they are proportionate to the purpose of this website and the type of information involved:
- Enquiry that does not progress: normally 12 months from the last meaningful contact, then deleted or anonymised unless there is a specific reason to keep limited information for longer.
- Active enquiry / ongoing discussion: while the discussion remains active, then normally 12 months from the last meaningful contact.
- Records connected with a completed UW referral, transaction, commission, legal issue or dispute: only the information genuinely needed may be kept for up to 6 years where this is necessary for accounting, legal, regulatory or dispute-resolution purposes. UW keeps its own records under its own retention rules.
- Marketing opt-out / do-not-contact record: a minimal suppression record may be kept for as long as reasonably necessary to make sure your opt-out is respected.
- Technical/security logs: only for as long as reasonably necessary for security, troubleshooting and the relevant service provider’s operational requirements.
I will delete information sooner where it is no longer needed, subject to any legal requirement or overriding reason that requires limited information to be retained.
7. Marketing and follow-up messages
Submitting an enquiry means you are asking me to contact you about that enquiry. I do not treat the act of submitting the form as blanket consent for unrelated or indefinite marketing.
If I want to send optional ongoing promotional messages by email, SMS or WhatsApp after the original enquiry has ended, I will obtain an appropriate opt-in for the relevant channel unless another lawful PECR exception clearly applies. Every marketing message will include a simple way to stop future messages.
If you tell me not to contact you for marketing, I will respect that choice. I may retain only the minimum information necessary to ensure that your preference continues to be honoured.
8. Cookies, embedded content and website technology
The site is not currently intended to use advertising or behavioural tracking cookies. Hosting and security providers may process strictly necessary technical information to deliver and protect the site.
The website may include embedded YouTube content. The embed is configured to minimise tracking before you choose to load or play the content. If you interact with the video, YouTube/Google may receive technical information and may use cookies or similar technologies under their own privacy terms.
If analytics, advertising pixels or other non-essential tracking are added later, the website controls and this notice will be updated before those technologies are used where consent is required.
9. Security
I take reasonable steps to protect personal information against accidental loss, unauthorised access, misuse or disclosure. This includes limiting access to the accounts and services used to operate the website, using appropriate account security, and avoiding unnecessary collection of personal information. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
10. Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and lawful basis, you may have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you;
- ask me to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- ask me to delete personal information in certain circumstances;
- ask me to restrict how I use information in certain circumstances;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- receive or transfer certain information in a portable format where the right applies; and
- withdraw consent at any time where I rely on consent.
You have an absolute right to object to direct marketing. If you object, I will stop using your personal information for that marketing purpose.
To exercise a right, email leads@mail.morechoices.co.uk and put “Privacy Request” in the subject line. I may need to confirm your identity before disclosing or changing personal information.
11. Data-protection complaints
If you are unhappy with how I have used your personal information, email leads@mail.morechoices.co.uk and put “Data Protection Complaint” in the subject line.
I will acknowledge a data-protection complaint within 30 days, take appropriate steps to investigate it without undue delay, keep you informed where appropriate, and communicate the outcome without undue delay.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data-protection regulator. Information about making a complaint is available at www.ico.org.uk.
12. Automated decision-making
I do not use the information submitted through these forms to make solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
13. Children
This website and the UW Partner opportunity are intended for adults. Please do not submit personal information through the forms if you are under 18.
14. Changes to this notice
I may update this notice if the website, data flow, technology providers or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will be shown at the top of the notice.
